CARBYNE APEX CALL HANDLING WAS SELECTED BY PANHANDLE REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION FOR 21 PSAPS IN TEXAS

NEW YORK, May 23, 2024 Carbyne, a global leader in public safety technology, today announced it was awarded the contract to provide Cloud-Native Call Handling to 21 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) by the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.

PRPC will implement Carbyne’s APEX platform, which will include cutting-edge features such as AI-based real-time language translation (early access) and transcription and rich media capabilities like live video, accurate geolocation, and silent texting capabilities, which can also be sent to field responders via Carbyne’s Responder Connect feature.  This move marks a significant step towards modernizing emergency response infrastructure in the region.

John Schaumburg, 9-1-1 Director for PRPC, emphasized the importance of this upgrade: “The Panhandle Regional 9-1-1 Network is excited to deploy Carbyne’s cloud-native solution throughout the Texas Panhandle.  It has always been our mission to provide the best possible 9-1-1 service to our region, and we believe that the Apex framework will help bolster that commitment.  Among many new features, we are particularly looking forward to seeing how the two-way native language translation, live video, and enhanced location capabilities help our dispatchers reduce response time and provide higher situational awareness for our first responders.”

Carbyne’s APEX platform is designed to meet the evolving needs of modern emergency response systems. As a cloud-native solution, it automatically updates without significantly impacting operations, ensuring that emergency call centers have up-to-date technology. The APEX platform’s ability to redirect calls to alternate PSAPs during evacuations and its support for remote work further bolster its resilience and adaptability in critical situations.

PRPC selected Carbyne due to several compelling advantages. Carbyne’s technology is advanced and proven in the field, delivering real results without the frequent updates required by older systems. Including real-time language translation and transcription capabilities is crucial for more effective communication in diverse communities. Additionally, Responder Connect enhances the platform’s utility, streamlining communication with field responders and improving response efficiency and accuracy.

“Historically, 9-1-1 technology has always been several steps behind the ever-changing technological landscape,” Schaumburg added.  “We feel that with Carbyne’s cloud-native solution, we can evolve alongside the continuous technical innovation, and provide our residents and visitors with the most up-to-date call-handling features available.”

This partnership underscores PRPC’s dedication to leveraging advanced technology to enhance public safety and operational efficiency across the Texas Panhandle.
